Muslims Stand Up

This is exactly the sort of thing we need to see a lot more of:

We your Muslim neighbors in this great city of ours, wish to raise our voices in unison, loudly and unequivocally to express our consternation, revulsion and most forcefully condemn the recent abhorrent and barbaric acts of the taking of innocent lives of our two countrymen in Iraq as we equally do so all previous acts that have no respect for human life no matter what the Cause.

We declare that those who commit acts of murder and abject cruelty in the name of Islam are not only destroying innocent lives but are also betraying the values of the faith they claim to represent. No injustice done to Muslims can ever justify the massacre of innocent people and no act of terror will serve the cause of Islam. The Glorious Quran says: " …if anyone slew a person, it would be as if he slew the whole humanity and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole humanity." (Quran 5:32).
I would like to personally thank Bunker for finding, posting and publicizing this. I think a combination of factors have lead to the evil forces within Islam getting a lot more publicity than those of good have been given.

We need more vocal and peaceful Muslims to at least begin to drive it through a number of exceedingly thick skulls that we are not fighting an entire religion. Rather, we are fighting evil individuals who ascribe to a particularly violent subset of 'teachings' within a religion, while ignoring the teachings of peace on neighboring pages within their very own Holy Book.

I hope everyone will do their part to spread the word.

The Considerates' Doug Payton alerts me to a post of his with this email:

Just before the 3rd anniversary of 9/11, another Muslim group apologized for their religious leaders who haven't come out against the terroris, for 9/11 itself, for blaming Jews, and on and on. Looks like things are starting to change, and we need to encourage and affirm those willing to buck the trend.
